January 10, 2003, Newsletter Issue #98: Do it yourself appraisal

Tip of the Week

Have you ever wondered about the value of some of your cherished jewelry or antiques? The most common way of fixing a value to something is by knowing what a similar piece went for on auction. And the internet has the biggest auction resource: eBay.com. Do a search for your item and try and find the closest thing to it timewise and materialwise. Keep in mind that usually rarer, older, and more ornate/attractive versions are worth more than plainer, older, and smaller.
