The alloys used in gold are very susceptible to damage by chlorine, and more than once there have been cases of diamonds simply falling out of settings that have been exposed to chlorinated water. Jewelry is precious, and more delicate than we often think about. Next time you head for the pool, leave your jewelry at home.
